Book Blurb :
For Jeffrey Ross, life is all about disaster management and recovery. Even a ride on the subway presents its challenges. Thankfully, though, Jeffrey works for Maxwell Clark, who not only notices difficult struggles and brave deeds, he believes in easing the first by rewarding the second. And this Valentine’s Day, Clark’s decides that Jeffrey is long overdue for some sweet strokes of manmade good fortune.
I loved this book. All the characters were adorable, from Jeffrey to Aquila, the lover he lost, to Clark with his protective and guardian angel qualities. I loved Jeffrey’s kind and strong nature, although he thinks so little of himself, people around him know his worth and appreciate him for who he is.
This is an endearing story about second chances. Set in the universe introduced in a previous book from Kelly Wyre called Hearts Under Fire, people familiar with the previous novel will enjoy this as Clark is a pivotal character to this new story. The author provides a lot of character detail and the story proceeds at a rapid pace. While not necessary to read Hearts Under Fire first, it would help in understanding the background and Clark’s story.
The New Amsterdam stories are short but interesting and there are always new characters that add just that amount of spice to make the books more interesting. I’m looking forward to the next installment of the New Amsterdam stories. 4 couples
