Book Blurb :
She’ll gamble her heart on the best friend she left behind…
One lucky break is all struggling actress Sidney Williams needs. But when living the LA life becomes too much, she heads back to the small town of Shamrock Falls for the vacation she needs to get her life on track—and immediately runs into Kade Mitchell, her former best friend and the boy next door she’s always regretted leaving behind.
Kade, the new owner of Lucky’s—once the most popular bar in Shamrock Falls—is determined to bring the place back to its former glory, and seeing Sidney again is a distraction he doesn’t need. Sure, the chemistry between them is explosive, but Kade can’t let himself fall into a fling with his best friend—not when he knows she’s soon heading back to the glitter of Tinseltown.
Now, with the possibility of her first major acting role looming, Sidney must decide if her lucky break is in Hollywood or right where she left it—in Shamrock Falls.
Review:
Sidney left Shamrock Falls five years ago to follow her dream to act. She left everything behind, including Kade, her best friend and lover, and she did it after Kade told her that he would go with her, that he’d leave Shamrock Falls—his home—so she could chase her dreams. But how could she have taken Kade with her when his home was in Shamrock Falls? In the five years of struggle in L.A. working as a waitress, Sidney still holds hope she will someday be a star despite that the only auditions she has been offered jobs from were for commercial work.
Sidney thought her boyfriend, Steve, was perfect for her as they had the same goals and dreams, but when he got a role for a TV series, he dumped her. She feels shattered and needs a place of tranquility after the betrayal is followed by her car being stolen and the blowing of another audition. What better place could be there be than her Aunt’s Mae’s while her aunt is hitting the road with her new man? What Sidney didn’t count on is that Kade Mitchell is back and staying in Aunt Mae’s guest house.
In those five years of Sidney’s absence, Kade got his business degree in Seattle; now he is back and he’s bought Lucky’s, a bar from Shamrock Falls. He meets his and Sidney’s friend Rowan or Freckles, as he used to call her, and has the shock of her life seeing Sidney again.
Kade loved Sidney since they were seven years old. He never understood why she left him without even a goodbye. After a very intense discussion, the two make peace with the past and they are friends again. They seal it with a hug that makes Sidney see Kade as a man now and to recognize that she always saw him as something more than just her best friend.
He always felt like he was hers, in a way.
Sidney also starts to realize how much she lost in those five years she was away.
How many clumsy grill moments had she missed while she was waiting in line at open auditions?
Sidney never realized that she was chasing her mother’s dream so she could be worthy of her love.
I have to prove I can do it. Prove I’m as good as Mom.
But will she see it when a director wants her in his movie? Will she realize what her dream is when she has to choose?
This is a sweet story about the depth of true love and second chances. Although I feel like the second half of the story is deeper than the first, I enjoyed reading it. 4 couples.

Congrats on the new release. This book sounds fantastic. Can’t wait to read it to see if Sydney chooses Kade and happiness over the movie. Thanks for the great review.
